Newman College
Newman College is a Catholic residential college at the University of Melbourne. Since 1918 it has provided a warm, welcoming and enjoyable environment for students to live in while they study at a range of institutions, including the University of Melbourne, RMIT, Latrobe University, the Australian Catholic University and the Victorian College of Pharmacy.
A wide variety of opportunities are provided for students, under the auspices of the Newman College Students' Club. The Students' Club organises many activities including sport, culture, community service, social events and academic support. There is wide scope for involvement in as many spheres of college, university and city life as students desire.
The college's motto - luceat lux vestra (let your light shine) - embodies the celebration of excellence that is ever-present at Newman. Students are encouraged, even expected, to extend themselves in every aspect of their lives, and Newman thus seeks to provide a stable, supportive and caring environment in which to do this.
